A deep-tech material science company building next-generation systems for performance and colour without hidden toxic chemistries.

Our story
Amphico was founded in 2018 by multidisciplinary designer, scientist and entrepreneur Jun Kamei, whose polymer research at the Royal College of Art led to the invention of Amphigill, an artificial gill designed to capture oxygen directly from water.

From this foundation came Amphitex™, a PFAS free membrane platform engineered from first principles, and Amphicolor™, a predictive colour intelligence platform that delivers greater flexibility within waterless colour.

Based at Somerset House in London, with manufacturing partners across Japan and the EU, Amphico translate material science breakthroughs into production ready systems for industrial scale adoption.

Why Performance and Colour, Why Now

Performance protection has relied on PFAS forever chemicals for decades. With regulations tightening globally, most alternatives compromise comfort, durability, or recyclability. Amphitex™ eliminates that trade-off.

Learn More About Amphitex™

Colouring remains one of the most water- and chemical-intensive stages in textile manufacturing. Waterless solutions exist, but limited flexibility and high upfront commitment have slowed adoption. Amphicolor™ removes the barriers to waterless colour adoption.
