We are a deep-tech company building next-generation
systems for performance and colour
without hidden toxic chemistries.
Our story
Amphico was founded in 2018 by materials scientist Jun Kamei, whose polymer research at the Royal College of Art asked: could performance textiles exist without PFAS or toxic solvents?
That research became Amphitex™, a PFAS-free membrane platform engineered from first principles. The same approach drove Amphicolor™: building prediction tools to deliver greater flexibility within waterless colour.
Based at Somerset House in London with manufacturing partners across Japan and the EU, we translate material science breakthroughs into production-ready systems that remove hidden chemical risk while enabling circularity and industrial-scale adoption.
Why Performance and Colour, Why Now

Performance protection has relied on PFAS forever chemicals for decades. With regulations tightening globally, most alternatives compromise comfort, durability, or recyclability. Amphitex™ eliminates that trade-off.

Colouring remains one of the most water- and chemical-intensive stages in textile manufacturing. Waterless solutions exist, but limited flexibility and high upfront commitment have slowed adoption. Amphicolor™ removes the barriers to waterless colour adoption.
