About Amphico

What Does Amphico do?
Amphico develops manufacturing-ready textile systems that remove toxic chemistry from two of the most chemically intensive stages of production: performance protection and colour. Our technologies include Amphitex™, a PFAS-free waterproof breathable membrane platform, and Amphicolor™, a waterless colour system delivered through finished fabrics. Both are production-ready, certified, and designed to integrate into existing manufacturing processes.
Where is Amphico based?
We're headquartered at Somerset House, London, UK. Our manufacturing partners are located across Japan and the EU.
Are your technologies commercially available today?
Yes. Amphitex™ BALANCE membranes and Amphicolor™ 40D recycled nylon fabrics are commercially available today. We are actively working with brands and manufacturers on product integration and commercial production.
What makes Amphico different?
We focus on manufacturing readiness rather than lab-stage innovation. Our systems are designed to integrate into existing industrial infrastructure, with validated performance, certifications, and supply chain partners already in place. We also address performance and colour together, offering complementary solutions that reduce chemical risk across material systems.
What should I know before starting a project with Amphico ?
We're at commercial launch stage, which means:

What we have:
· Production-ready technologies with certified materials
· Manufacturing partnerships across EU and Japan
· Compliance with extended producer responsibility in collaboration with partners
· Complete technical specifications and testing data
· Capacity for initial production volumes

What we're building:
· Extended product portfolio (additional Amphitex™ variants, new Amphicolor™ materials)
· Larger-scale production capacity
· Long-term field testing data from products in market

About Amphitex™

What is Amphitex™?
Amphitex™ is a platform of PFAS-free, toxic solvent-free microporous polyolefin membranes that deliver waterproof, breathable performance. The platform is designed with tuneable performance profiles to match different application needs.
How does Amphitex™ compare to other membranes?
Amphitex™ uses a microporous polyolefin architecture instead of ePTFE or PU-based systems:

· PFAS-free and toxic solvent-free from the start (not a retrofit)
· Softer hand feel compared to many PFAS-free alternatives
· Mono-material construction when paired with polyolefin face fabrics
· Designed for circularity with mechanical recycling pathways
Does Amphitex™ work with any face fabric?
Yes. Amphitex™ membranes can be laminated to synthetic and natural fibres face fabrics using a polyolefin adhesive system.

For maximum circularity, we recommend polypropylene face fabrics. This creates a true mono-material laminate where membrane, adhesive, and face fabric all use the same polymer family, enabling chemical recycling without complex separation.
Is Amphitex™ compliant with PFAS regulations?
Yes. Amphitex™ is PFAS-free and compliant with global PFAS restrictions across EU and US. The polyolefin adhesives are also free from hazardous isocyanates and are OEKO-TEX® and bluesign® certified.
Does Amphitex™ integrate with existing manufacturing?
Yes. The polyolefin adhesive integrates seamlessly into existing hot melt lamination lines. We've validated this with EU manufacturing partners and provide technical support for integration.

About Amphicolor™

What is Amphicolor™?
Amphicolor™ is a waterless colour solution for fabrics that delivers colour through weaving, validated using proprietary recipes. It unlocks a broader spectrum of colours and tonal depth without early commitment, offering predictable and consistent results without the high commitments typical of conventional solution dyeing. By achieving colour through the way yarns are combined and woven, Amphicolor™ enables greater flexibility, faster development cycles, and reliable outcomes.
How does Amphicolor™ achieve broader colour flexibility?
Amphicolor achieves colour through weaving rather than dyeing finished fabric. By combining a limited set of pre-coloured yarns in controlled ways, it enables a wider range of colours and tonal effects without locking brands into large, fixed palettes early in development.

By combining machine learning and proprietary methods, we enable a broader range of colours and tonal effects without early palette lock-in.
How is Amphicolor™ different from traditional solution dyeing?
Traditional solution dyeing is waterless, but it typically requires high minimums and early colour commitment. Amphicolor is designed to reduce those constraints by:

· Enabling broader palettes with proprietary recipes providing predictable colour without high minimum order quantities
· Supporting lower minimums suitable for seasonal testing and limited runs
· Reducing sampling loops and development time
· Delivering predictable colour behaviour before production

The result is greater flexibility without sacrificing the benefits of waterless colour.
What are the environmental benefits?
Compared to conventional wet dyeing (based on our 40D recycled nylon fabric), Amphicolor™ delivers measurable reductions in environmental impact:

· –55% water use (57L → 25L per kg fabric)
· –16% CO₂ emissions (22.3kg → 18.7kg per kg fabric)
· –15% electricity use (38.69 kWh → 32.87 kWh per kg fabric)

These benefits come from eliminating wet dyeing while reducing over-sampling and rework.
What materials is Amphicolor™ available for?
Amphicolor™ is currently available as a production-ready 40D recycled nylon fabric. We are extending Amphicolor™ to additional materials and weights in collaboration with manufacturing partners.
