Post-PFAS membranes Sportstextiles Issue 1 2026

Sportstextiles Issue 1 2026

Amphico has been featured in the first issue of  Sportstextiles  magazine for 2026, as part of the industry shift away from PFAS chemistry in waterproof-breathable membranes. Long considered a foundational component of high-performance outdoor materials, PFAS is now being phased out as brands and suppliers face increasing pressure to eliminate harmful chemicals from their products.

This transition is driving significant change across the performance textile sector, opening the door for new materials that rely on safer polymers and cleaner production methods. Amphico is part of this new generation of innovators working to redefine what high-performance membranes can look like without relying on toxic chemistry.

As highlighted in the article, Amphitex is already gaining traction in the industry. “Amphitex™ BALANCE is a newly launched membrane, a microporous film weighing 18gsm and can be tuned for various performance requirements, allowing it to be used across multiple applications beyond apparel.” said Isabella MacKenzie of Amphico. The development signals growing momentum for PFAS-free solutions that can meet the technical demands of modern outdoor apparel.
